3 things every Southern girl shoud have...

My Bundt Pan
I was once told that every southern girl should have 3 things...a deviled egg platter (check), a fryer (check), and a bundt pan (check); out of the three the one that I have never used...the bundt pan. A bundt cake is a cake that is baked in a bundt pan, shaping it into a distinctive ridged ring. It would appear that "bundt" is derived from the German Bundkuchen, a ring-shaped tea-time cake. The pan sold somewhat slowly until a Pillsbury-sponsored baking contest in 1966 saw a bundt cake win second place. This prompted a scramble for the pans, causing them to surpass the tin Jello-O mold to become the most-sold pan in the United States.

So, tonight I dug out the cookbook that Adam's grandmother gave me for Christmas and searched for a simple chocolate bundt cake recipe.

A Delicious Chocolate Bundt Cake Recipe

-1 cup butter,softened

-1 cup superfine sugar

-4 medium eggs, beaten

-1 1/4 cups self-rising flour

-1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
-----------------------------------------------
1. Heat the oven to 350 degrees F

2. Cream together the butter and sugar. Slowly add the beaten eggs and mix together.

3.Gradually fold in the flour and the cocoa powder mixing well. Spoon all of the mixture into the bundt cake pan.

4.Bake for about 50 minutes. Cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then turn out onto a wire rack to cool.

***Then I melted, regular store bought already in the container, cream cheese icing. Zapped it in the microwave for about 45 sec. and poured it on top of the bundt cake.
