So here I am looking out my office widows just thinking about how 1 month ago I was living in my parents house crossing my fingers for a real "big girl" job. I would have NEVER thought I would be sitting where I am now.
Thanks to Adam and his contacts I was able to find a job in Macon (that I love) and I know people groan and roll their eyes at Macon but it's really (honestly) not bad! We have done SO much in Macon. Second Sundays here in the park are BEAUTIFUL and relaxing. Adam did a 5k back in the fall "Bragg Jam" and we took Molly with us (his chocolate lab) and that was a blast. Downtown is FULL of life during the days and even the night life is jumpin' jumpin'. Oh! we went to the first ever Cherry Ball drop in downtown Macon on New Years Eve that was fun! The history here is never ending!!! Just the past Sunday we went to the "Foodie" awards. It was AMAZING! An hour before the show started they had a cocktail hour and it was WONDERFUL they had food samplings (which were NOT samplings...you could get whole en tree's, sandwich's, etc) from all the nominated local restaurants. This event would have been a DREAM for the homeless people downtown (if they knew about it). No one ever asked to see your tickets.
This weekend we are going to be spectators at the WWE wrestling match at the Centreplex in Macon with Adam's family. My question about this event is....what does one wear to a WWE smack down event?!?! (I know it's such a pressing issue in my life, haha JK)
I am SO excited about the Cherry Blossom Festival here in Macon. I already bought a pink jacket to wear! From my understanding it is two weeks when the Macon community really comes together and the excitement from downtown can be felt all over Macon. I really cannot wait to experience it!!! The ladies that I work with told me that during Cherry Blossom we will walk downtown (my office is in downtown) and get ice cream everyday! This town has some negatives (Like someone getting shot in a parking garage less than a block away from my office) but it also has some MAJOR positives!
So, that's not even HALF of what has happened in the past month. I moved to Macon for my job. And I moved into a house with two of the sweetest girls!!!! Kris Hattaway (which some refer to as "Miss Macon") has such a bubbly personality. I enjoy her company and daily drama...it keeps me smiling. She knows everyone who is ANYONE in Macon. She is always on the go, go, go! Not to mention she has the sweetest family!
Lyndell is my other roommate (doesn't she have a cool name?) Lyndell is from Milledgeville, she went to school at GSU and now lives in Macon. Talk about a total sweetheart!!! I love when she comes home and the first thing she says is "I need a beer." She works at an accounting firm downtown and right now with tax season gearing up...her work place is drama, drama, drama. Again, I enjoy listing to her drama as well :)
But getting a "Big Girl" job and moving to Macon is still not all the excitement I have endured in the past month.....I AM GETTING MARRIED!!!!
PURE CRAZINESS I know!!!!! This mile stone in my life happened January 16, 2010 in Savannah GA. Now, if you knew (realllly knew) the incredible guy I am engaged too, this is a shocker to you as well. Adam has ALWAYS told me that he was not getting married until he was 50. I knew he was only exaggerating but I knew for a fact he didn't want to get married while he was young...but the definition of "young" changes depending on who you are. And in Adams case 30 is still too young to get married. What changed his mind? I haven't really asked. I'm just glad he did!!!! It's been a little over a week since he "popped" the question and I still get crazy emotional and cry at the thought of being SO lucky to be in love with someone beyond everything I had ever hoped for. God has really blessed me.
I wanted to start this blog so I can write down my thoughts and feelings during this exciting time of planning a wedding, starting a career and...of me becoming a full fledged "Big Girl"
